061105 - Brick Kiln Farm

Looking through the website the other day I realised that I haven't put any new offroading pictures up for nearly a year! I've been offroad but just been rubbish at taking pictures, I'm always enjoying myself too much to get the camera out!

As it was my birthday at the weekend I decided to go have a play in the mud down at Brick Kiln Farm which you might recognise from 'A 4x4 Is Born' because it's where Mark Evans tested out his 100 inch Land Rover. There's been a lot of rain recently so there was plenty of water running through the site!

Lots of mud!

Mmm nice and gloopy!

"I'll just pop out this way to avoid the traffic!"

There's some dark little areas to the site down by the railway line. I don't think you'd get anything bigger than a Suzuki through without ramming through the trees.

Down into a nice big hole...

...and back out the other side with some extra water on board. Where did I put those drain bungs again?

Okay back in again for another swim!

This bob tail Range Rover needed a bit of rescuing, I think he'd just broken down rather than got stuck. I gave him a pull up out of the bottom of the pit but couldn't quite get enough traction to pull him right out.

James went and found someone to help and between us we both pulled him up and out.

Right off for some more playing!

Oh dear I did a bad thing! The hole was a big deeper and softer than I thought and I guess my front springs are getting a little tired too!

Whoops! Well that's one way to check the bottom of my truck!

Rolled over!

Fortunately there were some very nice people around to help and BlueZuk was soon back on it's wheels with the help of a winch.

And here's two of those very nice people!

Unfortunately after being on it's side the truck wouldn't start so we had to get a tow back up to flat ground. After a bit of bump starting it finally got running again. I must get that diesel conversion done soon!

Being towed

We decided to take it as a sign that we'd played enough for the day and headed on home. On the way back there was a strange knocking noise from the rear off side wheel but that's another story...
