151204 - Brick Kiln Farm

After about a month of only driving on the road I finally got to try out my diff lock and what a difference! I had the day off work so I decided it would be a perfect oppurtunity to go and investigate Brick Kiln Farm in Alton and test out my truck at the same time.

After a quick chat with the farmer we headed off to play in the mud, oh what a lot of mud we found!

Good to get the wheels nice and gloopy to start with

Having a play on the slopes. Most slopes at Brick Kiln seem to end in a huge pool of green slime and mud!

It doesn't look so bad in the photo but I reckon without the diff lock I would have got stuck in the hole. I could feel the back end biting in and shoving me up the slope.

The site has also got a big open area with big mounds built up to drive over. It's always nice to get a good view!

It's a good place to check out the suspension flex too

There are lots of nice gloopy tracks running through the woods, some are easy and some fairly severe.

It's a giant mud playground!

Having a go at one of the most gloopy mud runs. It's a shame the camera was too slow to catch the really muddy bit in the middle.

Oh look what I found, a big rock. It'd be rude not to drive over it!

After driving everywhere at Brick Kiln we decided to go and check out some of the green lanes towards Basingstoke. There's one that actually starts right in the farm. There was nothing as exciting on the lanes but it was great to get out and see some country side. Driving along one lane we found ourselves in the middle of a pheasant shoot, I thought they were shooting at me at first!

All in all it was a great day and definitely the best way to spend a day off work! I can't believe what a huge difference the diff lock has made to where my truck can go. It just keeps pushing, however muddy and uneven things get. It's got to be my best mod after the suspension lift!
