20/06/04 - Slindon Safari

This was my first trip to an off road site in the Samurai. I was looking forward to trying out some really tough tracks!

I had just had the suspension completely sorted at Rhino Rays so I wanted to really put it to the test. The dodgy leaf over had been replaced with Rays seriously bombproof version and I'd had new heavy duty springs, poly bushes and Pro Comp ES1000 shocks all round.

This is me just after arriving. I'm trying not to squint from the sun because it was such a nice day!

Me and my truck

Unfortunately I didn't take that many pictures because I was enjoying myself too much. Therefore getting bogged is what I have most pictures of! It wasn't until I was heading home that I remembered I hadn't locked my hubs doh! I won't be doing that again but I'm still not sure it would have helped with this one.

Stuck in the mud

The left hand rut here turned out to be a giant pool of slop. That's a 31" Colway MT completely swallowed there! There was no chance of opening the passenger door so my dad had to climb out my side.

Still stuck

I was just starting to look a bit lost when a top bloke in a Daihatsu came past and offered me a tow. I gratefully accepted and was back on terra firma in no time. Thank you very much!

Getting rescued

Out she pops!

What happened to my wheels? No wonder I didn't spot the hubs were unlocked!
